Trail Run -

Today's run was one that I have been looking forward to for weeks now.  Who doesn't love a new trail to explore?  Paul took Jon and I on a tour of the Smithfield Mountians.  We hit 2/3 of the canyons in a single run.  We ran/power hiked up Smithfield Dry Canyon starting at 5500ft and made it to the top (9000 feet) in about 4.5 miles.  It was crazy steep and rocky, but very picturesque.  The downside was that the trail is heavily overgrown and my legs were a bloody mess by the top.  The other issue is that summer is over and a short-sleeve shirt and shorts does not cut it at 9000 feet in October.  Oops.  Things turned around quickly though once we dropped below the snow line and entered Birch Canyon.  Wow!  Love it.  I will be back to visit that canyon again.  In-all a great trail run with big climbs and a fast finish (sub 7 pace for 4-5 miles by the end). Thanks Paul for sharing YOUR canyon.

Cody great hike/run. What's your plans for running the rest of the year, or are you taking a break from racing?
